Week 6: Too committed to quit and too tired that I'm nearly quitting

Well, I'm glad to say that I've made it to week 6, but at the same time I can say that I feel kind of tired and overwhelmed as I have a lot of work because my program is ending so I have tons to do. Anyways I always manage to squeeze in a little but of the course. This past week I learnt and read about how to make a powerpoint more interactive. There were several articles that gave us a lot of technique in ways to make a presentation more interesting. Indeed it was really cool while I read it.  Also I had to create mine. I must admit that I didnt invest a lot of time on it but I tried my best, I wished I had a little bit more time. Finally I started implementing my tool in class.  For this I took a laptop and connected it to wifi and showed my students different websites were they cab interact with native speakers. Also I recollected all their emails and sent them a document with step to step instructions of what to do. So far it hasn't been that great because most of t...

Getting the hang of it- Week 5

Hello I'm here again,  This time I came to share my reflection of week 5. This week in my opinion has been the best of all because I managed to plan myself better to do everything on time but not too rushed.   Throughout the week I learnt a lot and did a lot of work. To begin with I read different articles about rubric and project-based learning in which I learnt about a new way to assign projects to my students were they can fell like they are in control. Also, I read in more details about rubrics and why they are so useful. While reading the information about rubrics there was a lot of facts that I found interesting, as this helps the students to know what is expected from them and what the final result should look like.  Also, I got the chance to create my own rubric, which was really helpful because I have my own evaluation grid for my conversation class but it isn't as detailed as the rubric I made. As the one I made explains step by step why they would lo...

Week 3: It's getting tougher

Hello Once Again, Another week has gone by and we are still making an extra effort to complete all the tasks. Sometimes it's tough and this week it has been even more because I've had a lot of work at my job and I have also been sick, but I definetly tried my best to do the best that I could to complete everything on time. This week we had four different assignments. Our first assignment was very interesting as we had to read two articles. One of the articles spoke about pronunciation and how important it is to give students different pronunciation activities and the information that I liked the most about this article is that it mentioned that when learning a language the accent isn't important as long as the students manages to communicate. The other article spoke about a different way to teach another language by using videos and audios, which allows the teacher to make the class a little bit more interesting and creative, As I mentioned before in my discussion the...

Week 2- Learning Adjectives

Hello once again, This week has been very interesting and helpful as the topics have been related to something that I've been investigating for some time, which is how to write objectives properly. This is because one of the requirements for the program that I coordinate is to write the objectives on the board for the students and I was showing the teachers how to do this properly, so I believe this article about ABCD model is very handy for me. I must say that I really liked this topic and I will use it in class when writing my objectives to my students.  Besides learning how to write objectives according to the ABCD model, I also learnt about new websites. It was really interesting checking out those websites as most of the times what I use is google but the search engines allowed me to get acquainted with other ones  which I can use later on in my class or give it to me students to use them to reinforce certain topics or assignment that we are working on in class. ...

First Week in Webskills Course

As I've said before I've always been a fan of writing and I wish I could have writing skills, but that is definetly not my strength. Anyways, I really look forward to writing in a blog for the first time. Now going to the point, my first week in the course has been great. It hasn't been that hard to adapt the course into my daily routine as you can go working little by little. There isn't too much information to handle in one day, so it isn't that stressful and at the same time you can learn. This first week has been more like an introduction which is good as it manages to put everyone on the same page because we learn which are the ground rules for the discussions and we also learn how to use the webapage and how we will be evaluated. Also, for some of us it gives us a new experience as it shows us how to create and use a blog in blogger. Until now that has been what I've done this first week: learn rules for discussion, introduce myself to my peers, learn ...
